Thomas
Murphy comes from Kilchreest in Co. Galway, and began violin with
Sr M. Benedict in the Convent of Mercy, Loughrea. He continued his musical
studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and later at University College
Cork where he completed a B. Mus. His teachers have included Michael McNamara
and Una Kindlon of the National Symphony Orchestra for violin, and John
Vallery and Seamus O’Grady for viola. He is a regular performer
and plays with the Galway-based Corrib String Quartet.
