Giovanni Vella (trumpet)
Margherita Gianola was born in 1968
in Venice. In 1992 she received her diploma in piano at the conservatory
B. Marcello in Venice with G. Agazzi, and n 1995 received
her diloma in organ and composition at the Conservatory A. Steffani
in Castelfranco with A. Aroma. She is currently studying voice at the
conservatory in Venice. She has been praised by audiences and critics
in various concerts in Italy and abroad as soloist, with orchestra, and
in duos and trios with almost every type of instrument. She received further
training with S. De Pieri and F. Finotti. She has taught organ at the
Conservatory of Cagliari. She is organist at the Basilica of the Frari
in Venice, the only site in Venice with two antique organs which have
been perfectly restored as well as a large modern instrument. Since 1990
she has been director of the International Concert Season of Frari. In
1999, with the historical organs, she recorded a CD of Italian music of
the eighteenth century.
Giovanni Vella received his diploma
at the Conservatory B. Marcello in Venice, and then continued
his studies with Giuseppe Bodanza, (first trumpet at La Scala in Milan)
and with Stanko Arnold (first trumpet at the Lubjana State Theatre). He
now studies and works with Mauro Maur (first trumpet at the Rome Opera).
He has performed as a soloist in various capacities in Italy and abroad,
including the Rome Opera, the Italian Orchestra, and Solisti Veneti. He
is a member of the brass quintet Mikrokosmos with whom he has won numerous
prizes. He has recorded for the RAI for the past twelve years and plays
trumpet for the Musical Foundation Santa Cecilia in Portogruaro.
He and Margherita Gianola have played duo concerts together since 1990.
