Brendan Collin, baritone
Brendan
Collins is studying for a Master's degree in music performance
at the DIT Conservatory with Robert Alderson. A native of Cork, he began
his studies with Robert Beare at the Cork School of Music, where he graduated
with a B.Mus. (Hons). He also holds a Diploma in Music Performance from
the London College of Music and a Gold medal in Acting from L.A.M.D.A.
He has performed with Opera Ireland, Lyric Opera, Opera2005, Opera Cork,
Anna Livia Opera Festival, Irish Operatic Repertory Company, Opera South,
Moldavian National Opera and Co-Opera. His Roles include Schaunard (La
Bohème), Count Almaviva (cover, The Marriage of Figaro),
Count Ceprano (Rigoletto), Amantio di Nicalao (Gianni Schicchi),
Baron Duphol & Dr Grenvil (La Traviata), Dancaire & Zuniga
(Carmen),and Yamadori (Madama Butterfly). On the concert
platform he has performed the bass solos in Handel's Messiah, Mozart's
Vespers, Coronation Mass & Regina Caeli, Haydn's
Nelson Mass, Schubert's Mass in G, Bach's St John Passion
& Wachet Auf, Fauré's Requiem and Carl Orff’s
Carmina Burana. Brendan can be heard as Holofernes on the original
cast recording of Irish composer John Gibson's chamber opera Judith and
Holofernes. Future and recent engagements include Fiorello (The Barber
of Seville) with Opera2005, and a tour to Salzburg and Vienna with
the Galway Choral Association.
