Thursday 6 August 1997 at 8.00 pm Emanuele CardiEmanuele Cardi was born in Pozzuoli (Naples). He received a first-class degree with Honours in Organ and Organ Composition with Prof. Wijnand van de Pol at the conservatory "F. Morlacchi" in Perugia where he afterwards was awarded a scholarship and a concert engagement. He serves as consultant for the restoration of ancient Neapolitan organs in the Dioceses of Pozzuoli and Naples. He has directed the restorations of the Neapolitan organ in St Giorgio Martire's church in Naples and the last two surviving ancient organs in the Pozzuoli Diocese. Together with the University of Cremona, he is conducting a study on the developement of the ancient organ music and organ building in the south of Italy, with particular attention to the different families of organ builders in Naples, from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. He has performed in Holand, Belgium, Poland, England and Germany as well as at home. He is President and Artistic Director of the Accademia Organistica Campana, organist and music director at the new Ghilardi organ Battipaglia (Salerno) - one of the best and well known new organs in Italy - and honorary organist of Pozzuoli Cathedral. |
