Alan Burke

Alan Burke is a priest of the diocese of Galway and is currently curate at Galway Cathedral. He read Music at the National University of Ireland at Maynooth from where he graduated in 1996. Studying under Gerard Gillen and John O'Keeffe, his primary training as an organist was for the liturgical arena. As twice holder of the post of College Organist he accompanied the daily round of the various liturgical prayers at the seminary. In this context, his interest continues to lie in improvisation as a spontaneous musical response to the sentiments of catholic worship.
