Saturday 23 August 1997 at 12.30 pm Antoinette BakerAntoinette Baker was born in Dublin, but was educated in Enniscorthy and Bunclody. In 1989 she graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in music and Iriah and subsequently completed a H. Dip. Ed. Antoinette also has an MA in organ interpretation and performance from St Patrick's College, Maynooth. A student of Peter Sweeney at the College of Music, Dublin, Antoinette has won all the major prizes for organ, such as the W. Sydney Greig Memorial Cup, the Actors' Church Union Award (twice) and the German Government Cup. Antoinette has also won the Fitzgerald trophy for advanced organ playing at the Feis Ceoil, Dublin. She holds six diplomas in both piano and organ including the fellowship of Trinity College, Dublin. For five years Antoinette was organist at St Aidan's Cathedral, Enniscorthy. She has taken part in masterclasses given by Jacques van Oortmerssen and Ben van Oosten. She has performed at various venues such as Trinity College Chapel, St Patrick's College, Maynooth, the College of Music and the National Concert Hall in Dublin, St Michael's in Dún Laoghaire, St Iberius' Church, Wexford, the Methodist Church, Bandon and St Fin Barre's Cathedral in Cork. Last year Antoinette was a semifinalist in the Dublin International Organ Competition. Recent engagements include a recital in the National Concert Hall. |
