Niall Carroll

Niall Carroll, originally from County Louth, has been living in Galway for the past 20 years. At the age of eleven he began piano lessons with Fiona Currie of Renmore. Having studied the piano up to Senior Certificate level he turned his attention to organ studies. His first organ teacher was Mark Keane, and since 2005 Niall has been studying the organ under the tutorship of Raymond O’Donnell. In 2006 Niall took up the post of Organ Scholar at Galway Cathedral, where he continues to study and play organ music, alongside gaining experience in choral conducting and church-music direction. Over the years he has won several prizes for organ performance at the Dublin Féis Ceol, including the Fitzgerald Trophy for advanced organ playing in March 2008. Niall is also a former student of NUI Galway, where he graduated in 2006 with a BA in English and Classical Civilisation.
